Without Valentine, MSU pulls off OT win over Oakland, 99-93
Bryn Forbes scored a career-high 32 points as the Michigan State Spartans survived in overtime against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 99-93, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. It was MSU's first game since their leading scorer, Denzel Valentine, had minor knee surgery.
Eron Harris added 27 points for Michigan State (13-0), who locked up the best start in school history after trailing by as many as 15 points in the 1st half. Kay Felder, the nation's #2 scorer, had 37 points & nine assists for Oakland (7-4).
The Spartans will begin Big Ten play next Tuesday (Dec. 29) on the road at Iowa while the Golden Grizzlies return home to Rochester to host Chicago State this Monday night at 7 pm.
