Tigers cloose out Turner Field & season after 1-0 loss to Braves
Julio Teheran matched a career high with 12 strikeouts and Freddie Freeman drove in the lone run with a 1st-inning sacrifice fly off Justin Verlander as the Detroit Tigers' season came to a close after losing to the Atlanta Braves, who played their last game at Turner Field, 1-0.
The game ultimately became meaningless after both Baltimore & Toronto won their respective games to enter the postseason as AL wild cards. Detroit missed the playoffs for the second year in a row after four straight postseason appearances that included a trip to the World Series in 2012.
While the Tigers begin their offseason earlier than they would have liked, the countdown to next season has already begun: April 3rd in Chicago vs. the White Sox.
