Red Wings pay tribute to Mike Ilitich, but lose to St. Louis, 2-0
Carter Hutton made 25 saves for his second straight shutout and fourth in eight games as the St. Louis Blues defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 2-0. Before the game, Mike Ilitch was honored as the Wings wore Mr. I patches on their jerseys and on the ice.
Detroit's goaltender Petr Mrazek finished with 27 saves, but didn't get any help from his teammates at the other end of the rink. To add on to the long night, Gustav Nyquist served his first of a six-game suspension handed down by the NHL for high-sticking Minnesota D Jared Spurgeon in the face over the past weekend. The suspension was made official within three hours before gametime.
Up next, the Red Wings will host the Washington Capitals at the Joe Louis Arena this Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.
