First it was Super Bowl XL. Then it was WrestleMania 23. Then it was Monday Night Football without the Lions. And now, it's the Florida International Golden Panthers making & winning their first ever bowl game.

Last night, FIU won the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl 34-32 against the Toledo Rockets in dramatic fashion when their sophomore kicker Jack Griffin made a 34-yard field goal as time expired, despite Toledo scoring a Terrence Owens 14-yard rushing touchdown with a gutsy 2-point conversion in the previous drive with 1:14 left in the game.

FIU junior WR T.Y. Hilton made a name for himself, scoring two touchdowns with one of them being a 89-yard kick return for a TD, which was the longest in Pizza Bowl history. It was also his second this season & the 4th of his career, both FIU records. Because of his performance, he was named 2010 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl MVP.

With 193 rushing yards & 2 touchdowns, Toledo's junior RB Adonis Thomas helped the Rockets to a 21-7 halftime lead. Toledo was up by as many as 17 as the 3rd quarter was underway, until FIU showed that they were not going to go down without a fight. With a long kick return & some key first downs, FIU got enough momentum to make a comeback and win the game.

Even though the big bowl games are days away (Rose, Sugar, Orange, etc.), the Pizza Bowl could arguably be the best one this season.

I do love the underdog winning. That was gutts where the Toledo head coach went for two points for the lead late in the game. But I have say brillant! on the FIU'S coaches to do the hook and lateral to set up the game winning field goal. This is a real good team that will have respect very soon in college football.
