Pistons close out season with win over 76ers, 104-100
Though this was one of those seasons Detroit would love to forget, at least it ended on a high note with a victory over a playoff team. Rodney Stuckey scored 29 points & Tayshaun Prince had 14 as the Detroit Pistons defeated the 76ers, 104-100 in Philadelphia.
The Pistons finished the season 30-52, which includes winning only nine road games, and face an off-season of potential major changes. Those changes may include the remaining three players from the '04 championship season, Ben Wallace, Richard Hamilton, & Tayshaun Prince. Wallace is considering retirement, Prince is now a free agent, and after the treatment Hamilton endured all season long, head coach John Kuester, who had a rough two years, might not be back either.
There is hope for the future for the 3-time NBA champions. The Pistons will start a new era under owner Tom Gores, who reached an agreement to buy the Pistons and wants to build on the foundation set by the late Bill Davidson, who owned them when they won NBA titles back in 1989, 1990, & 2004. While Gores settles in into his his new position as Pistons' owner, all Piston fans can do now is wait to see what changes come about and look forward to the next event, the NBA Draft, to be held on Thursday, June 23rd.
