Red Wings sweep Phoenix in 1st round, 6-3; Caps & Pens win in 2OT

Patrick Eaves scored twice including an empty net goal, leading the Red Wings to a 6-3 victory and a sweep of the Coyotes in four straight in the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Phoenix led 3-2 early in the second period, but soon after, Detroit scored four unanswered goals while Jimmy Howard had 27 saves. The Red Wings are 57-0 when scoring four or more goals in the playoffs.

Detroit will have at least eight days off between rounds to rest & heal players like Henrik Zetterberg. As it stands now, The Western Conference semifinals would be against the San Jose Sharks, but with the rest of the quarterfinals still going on, it's up in the air as to who Detroit will face next. But for now, the Red Wings will use this time to rest & see how the other teams are doing.
