Game 1 of the ALDS resumed after rain suspended play Friday night and New York's Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with a grand slam & six RBIs as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Yankees, 9-3.

Doug Fister (0-1), who replaced Justin Verlander after play was suspended Friday, went 4 2/3 innings and was charged with six earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six on 90 pitches. Ryan Perry gave up a hit and struck out two in the seventh.

Game 2 will be at 3:07 p.m. Sunday at Yankee Stadium. It'll be Max Scherzer vs. ex-Tiger Freddy Garcia.

Yovani Gallardo emerged from the shadows by outpitching Arizona ace Ian Kennedy and Prince Fielder chased Kennedy with a two-out, two-run homerun in the 7th inning as the Milwaukee Brewers kept winning at Miller Park, beating the Diamondbacks, 4-1 in Game 1 of their NL division series. Game 2 is set for Sunday at 5 pm.

Ryan Howard shook off his season-ending strikeout last October to hit a go-ahead, three-run homerun in a five-run 6th inning, and Roy Halladay overcame a shaky start to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat the St. Louis Cardinals ,11-6 Saturday night in Game 1 of their NL division series. Game 2 will be Sunday night at 8:30 pm.
