At Calihan Hall, freshman Shareta Brown posted 18 rebounds & 16 points to help the Detroit Titans hold the Bowling Green Falcons to just 31% shooting, but a late BGSU rally was just enough to defeat UDM, 57-49.

The game was the first women's basketball contest played on the new Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall and it's the fourth straight game that the Titans lost by less than ten points. The previous three came from the Preseason WNIT last week (Indiana State - 2, Drexel - 5, Howard - 2).

Brown's 17 rebounds were a season high as the rookie was 5-of-11 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Junior Chanahl Putnam was in double figures for the fourth straight game, netting 10 points and coming away with three rebounds & two assists, while junior Yar Shayok had six points, 13 boards, and three blocks.

The Titan women (0-4) will be back on the road this weekend as they participate in the Thanksgiving Classic at the University of Texas-San Antonio. Detroit will face the Pac-12's Utah Utes on Friday and UTSA on Saturday. Game time for both days is set for 6:00 pm ET.

Meanwhile in Bowling Green, Sophomore Evan Bruinsma provided a big spark with a career-best 17-points, but it wasn't enough as host Bowling Green defeated Detroit, 67-61 in the second day of the Progressive CBE Classic. Despite an early injury, Bruinsma got his opportunity, but foul trouble forced him to play 30 minutes off the bench.

Bruinsma's career night came on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor with seven rebounds, a block, a steal, an assist and no turnovers in 30 minutes. Jason Calliste finished with 16 points and a career- and game-high nine rebounds.

The Titan men (2-3) will finish the tournament Wednesday with a 5 pm start against Austin Peay. AP lost a tough 54-52 decision to George Washington in the day's earlier matchup.
