Michigan hangs on in OT to beat Northwestern, 66-64
Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Zack Novak, all in one 45-minute game, came through as the Michigan Wolverines (14-3, 4-1 Big Ten) pulled out a 66-64 overtime win over the Northwestern Wildcats (11-5, 1-3) at the Crisler Center.
Burke scored the final eight points and hit all six of his free throws to cap his 19-point, seven-rebound, seven-point night. Each time the freshman point guard shot the ball in OT, the score was either tied or the Wolverines were clinging to a one-point lead.
Novak provided one of the night's signatures with a two-handed dunk during the 10-0 second-half run, keeping the Wolverines in the game.
Hardaway scored 14 of U-M's 27 first-half points, hitting four of five three-pointers. He finished the game with 19 points.
In the middle of the first half, the U-M football team was honored on the court with the Sugar Bowl trophy. After the team left the court, most of the players remained to watch the game.
