Defenseman Brad Stuart undergos surgery
Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart underwent surgery yesterday to repair a broken jaw suffered on January 7 vs. the Calgary Flames. While initial evaluation revealed fractures that did not require surgery, additional examinations deemed surgery was necessary to insert two plates to help stabilize the fractures in his jaw. The surgery was successfully performed last night in California by Dr. Louis Claymon. The surgery is not
expected to change the original diagnosis of 6-8 weeks of recovery before Stuart is able to return to the Red Wings lineup.
