Titans defeat Vikings, 63-58, to enter the HL Championship
The #3 Detroit Titans advanced to the 2012 Horizon League Championship with a 63-58 victory over the #2 Cleveland State Vikings at the Athletics-Recreation Center on the campus of Valparaiso University. Sophomore Ray McCallum led all scorers with 26 points as Detroit advanced to the league finals for the first time since 2005.
Following a huge pair of bonus free throws late in the game, McCallum finished with 26 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Junior Jason Calliste helped out as well with 13 points & seven rebounds while senior Chase Simon had eight points & eight rebounds. Senior Eli Holman finished the night with six points, six rebounds, three steals & a block for the victorious Titans.
This Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on the campus of Valpo U., an automatic entry into the NCAA Tournament and the Horizon League title will be on the line when Detroit plays top-seed Valparaiso, who defeated two-time Final Four finalist Butler, 65-46, in the other HL semifinal game.
