Central women slip past Ohio, 58-55 in MAC's 2nd round
The #5 Central Michigan Chippewas used 43 points from four freshmen to defeat the #8 Ohio Bobcats, 58-55, in the second round of the MAC Women's Tournament. A bucket by Jas'Mine Bracey along with another from Crystal Bradford gave CMU just enough of a lead to hold off the Bobcats and advance to the quarterfinals for the fourth straight season.
Bradford recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points & 11 rebounds. Jessica Green added 16 points, followed by Bracey with 10. Brandie Baker only scored two points offensively, but finished the game with eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
As a team, the Chippewas shot 40.7% from the floor and 60% from the free throw line. Ohio was held to only 33.9% shooting and 66.7% from the line.
This Thursday at noon, Central Michigan (18-14) will face #4 Miami in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament.
