The 2011 Detroit Tigers Winter Caravan,is set for Thursday, January 20 and Friday,
January 21, and features an exciting lineup of appearances in Detroit and around the
state of Michigan. Tigers President, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager
David Dombrowski, Vice President/Assistant General Manager Al Avila, Manager Jim
Leyland, coaches, players, broadcasters and Detroit’s favorite mascot PAWS, will take
part in a two-day journey traveling in two buses and an additional dozen vehicles,
across the region, spreading baseball fever to fans of all ages.

“Tigers Caravan signals the start of a new season, and we’re thrilled that we have 37 destinations, an all-time high in a twoday
period,” said Tigers’ Vice President of Community and Public Affairs Elaine Lewis. “Tigers Caravan has become a
baseball winter tradition, and our players, coaches and broadcasters enjoy visiting local communities and the hometowns
of our fans.”


Thursday, January 20:
2:15-3:15 p.m. Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)
Detroit Institute of Arts 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit
• Tigers tour the Fakes, Forgeries & Mysteries exhibit
• Fan rally with DIA employees, volunteers and guests of the DIA
• OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (Rally begins at 2:00 p.m.)

5:25-6:45 p.m. Taylor Police & Fire Departments
Taylor Fire Department 23515 Goddard, Taylor
• Special presentation to the men and women of the Taylor Police Department in honor of two
recently fallen officers
• Tigers tour the Taylor Police Department
• Fan rally at the Taylor Fire Department with employees of the City of Taylor including Taylor
PD and FD along with their families
• FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)

5:35-6:40 p.m. West Bloomfield Township Public Library
West Bloomfield Township Public Library 4600 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield
• Tigers players read “The ABC’s of Detroit Tigers Baseball”, a children’s book, with Detroit’s
favorite mascot PAWS, followed by a book signing of “The ABC’s of Detroit Tigers Baseball”
• The Tigers make a special presentation to the library in recognition of their recent receipt of
the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor for libraries.
• FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)

6:00-6:45 p.m. Hockeytown Authentics
Hockeytown Authentics 1845 East Big Beaver Road, Troy
• Fans have the opportunity to take a photo with two Tigers players in exchange for a donation
of new children’s or adult winter mittens or gloves to benefit Mittens for Detroit
• Wristbands will be distributed beginning at 4 p.m. for the first 100 fans that donate a new pair
of winter gloves or mittens
• Fans get 50% off select Detroit Tigers merchandise at Hockeytown Authentics, Troy from
5:00-7:00 p.m.
• First 100 fans receive a free Tigers gift
• Fans can enter to win a pair of tickets to Opening Day 2011 and autographed Tigers
memorabilia

Friday, January 21:

• The Tigers join students from University Prep Science and Math Middle School to take part in
an electrifying demonstration in the DTE Energy Sparks Theater followed by the Chrysler
Science Stage show Going Green, which illustrates important green topics such as recycling
and composting
• Any visitor wearing Detroit Tigers apparel on January 21 receives $3 off an adult admission or
$2 off a child admission
• OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (Program begins at 10:00 a.m.)

2:00-2:45 p.m. Oakland University
Oakland University, O’Rena 2200 North Squirrel Road, Rochester
• Tigers headline rally for students, government officials and surrounding communities including
an interactive question and answer session
• FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (Doors open at 1:30 p.m.)

2:00-2:40 p.m. McDonald’s
McDonald’s 2985 Walton Blvd, Rochester Hills
• McDonald’s customers get a special surprise with their mid-afternoon snack as two Tigers
players serve as celebrity McDonald’s crew members
• OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
