Red Wings fall to Nashville, 3-1 & trail the series 3-1
The Detroit Red Wings had numerous chances against Nashville's goalie Pekka Rinne, who came up with 40 saves as the Predators beat the Wings, 3-1 to lead the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal series, 3-1.
The game was scoreless after one period, then the Red Wings turned up the heat with 17 shots in domination that equaled to a scoreless game after two periods.
The third period had all the scoring and Detroit got caught when Nashville's Gabriel Bourque's wrist shot zip past Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard. Down 1-0, Jiri Hudler shot went past Rinne to tie the game at one.
Then three minutes later, another let down occured in the Detroit zone that left Kevin Klein wide open to score his second of the series and the game winner. David Legwand finished the scoring at 19:21 that put the Predators to a 3-1 series lead, pushing the Red Wings to a must-win Game 5 this Friday night in Nashville to keep their season alive.
