Chris Perez rose to 28-for-30 in save chances as he threw a 1-2-3 in the 9th inning and left Miguel Cabrera on deck as the Cleveland Indians survived long enough to defeat the Detroit Tigers, 3-2.
With two out in the 7th inning, Cabrera launched a two-run homerun to center off Cleveland's right-handed reliever Joe Smith to tie the game at two. However in the bottom of the inning, the Indians' Aaron Cunningham slid to home plate after hitting a triple for the squeeze play.
After the White Sox tore apart Minnesota, 11-4, the Tigers now find themselves tied for 1st place in the American League Central Division. Detroit will look to regain sole possession of the AL Central when they face Cleveland this Wednesday night at 7 pm.
