AL EAST - In a see-saw battle for 1st place, the N.Y. Yankees took back the lead with an 8-5 win over Baltimore and improved their magic number to 24.
AL WEST - The Texas Rangers' magic number remains at 21 after losing to Tampa Bay, 3-1, while Oakland took care of Seattle, 6-1.
AL WILD CARD - Tampa Bay pulled within one game of Oakland & Baltimore with their win over Texas, but still has the magic number of 24 against them.
NL EAST - Washington's magic number stays at 18 with their loss to Miami while Atlanta shut out the N.Y. Mets, 3-0.
NL CENTRAL - Despite both Cincinnati & St. Louis losing, the Reds' magic number was reduced to 16.
