Justin Verlander aided the Detroit Tigers to a 6-2 victory over Kansas City, but the Chicago White Sox obtained victory as well with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Cleveland. With Chicago's magic number down to 9, the Tigers remain one game behind and will attempt to share the lead in the AL Central Division when they play the Royals this Tuesday night.


AL WEST - The Texas Rangers reduced their magic number to 5 after defeating Oakland, 5-4.

NL EAST - With Atlanta idle, Washington took advantage and wiped out Milwaukee, 12-2, to improve their magic number to 5.

NL WILD CARD - The L.A. Dodgers had the night off, but thanks to Milwaukee losing to Washington, they are now tied with the Brewers with the magic number of 6 against them with Atlanta & St. Louis still at the top.

AL EAST - As Baltimore lost to Toronto, 9-5, the N.Y. Yankees defeated Minnesota, 6-3, to drop their magic number down to 8.
