Anibal Sanchez threw a complete game three-hit shutout beating the Kansas City Royals 2-0 Tuesday night at Comerica Park. Detroit got RBI help from Prince Fielder, and Delmon Young, making it 2-0 in the first inning. That's all the runs that they would need as Anibal Sanchez (4-6) did not allow the Royals to get going at all. Sanchez retired the first 11 batters that he faced allowing just the three hits, walking one, and striking out ten for the win. He threw 105 pitches recording his first shutout since Sept.10,2011. Bruce Chen (11-13) gave up the two runs in the first then settled down through 6 2/3 innings of work for the loss.
Detroit now share first place in the AL Central with the fading Chicago White Sox who lost to the Cleveland Indians 4-3 earlier in the day. The Tigers hope to make it three in a row on Wednesday when they send Rick Porcello (9-12, 4.57) to the mound to face Jeremy Guthrie (7-12, 4.80).
