With Doug Fister's record-breaking day and clutch hitting in the 9th inning, the Detroit Tigers now have a two-game lead over the Chicago White Sox, who lost to Tampa Bay, 3-2. Possessing the magic number of 5, the Tigers will finish off the last few days of the regular season on the road, starting with Minnesota this Friday night at 8 pm.


AL WEST - With a hard-fought 9-7 win over Oakland, the Texas Rangers reduced their magic number to 3.

NL EAST - Washington and Atlanta both won their respective games, but the Nationals improved their magic number to 3.

NL WILD CARD - The L.A. Dodgers defeated San Diego, 8-4, but still have the magic number of 4 against them with Atlanta & St. Louis in the lead.

AL WILD CARD - The L.A. Angels lost to Seattle, 9-4, and are now tied with Tampa Bay in the hunt for the top spots in the race, currently lead by Baltimore & Oakland, who have a magic number of 5.

AL EAST - Despite being shut out by Toronto, the N.Y. Yankees have a one-game lead over idle Baltimore with a magic number of 6.
