San Francisco's left-hander Madison Bumgarner kept Detroit's bats at bay for the second time in two World Series games as the Giants took a 2-0 series lead in the World Series with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Tigers.

Even though another impressive performance by Tigers’ righty Doug Fister was spoiled, despite being struck in the head on a linedrive-base hit in the 2nd inning, he went on to pitch six-plus innings and allowed only one run on four hits.

No Tigers recorded multiple hits, with Omar Infante and Delmon Young accounting for the only base hits of the day. Young's first-inning double nearly gave the Tigers an early lead, but Prince Fielder, waved home from third by 3rd base coach Gene Lamont, was thrown out at the plate in an attempt to score.

The Tigers return home to Comerica Park in Detroit this Saturday night for Game 3 when Anibal Sanchez goes up against San Francisco right-hander Ryan Vogelsong. The forecast for that game will in the mid-to-high 40s.
