Magglio still a Tiger
Magglio still a Tiger
Veteran outfielder Magglio Ordonez has reached agreement with the Detroit Tigers on a one-year, $10 million contract, a baseball source confirmed.
Ordonez, 36, hit .303 with 12 home runs and 59 RBIs in 84 games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in July. He is expected to return to right field for the Tigers in 2011.
Ordonez has 289 career home runs in 14 seasons with the White Sox and Tigers.
Ordonez joins Jayson Werth and Carlos Pena on the list of Scott Boras clients who have signed free agent deals this offseason. Several big-name Boras clients -- including Adrian Beltre, Rafael Soriano, Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon -- remain unsigned.
Detroit general manager David Dombrowski spent $66.5 million on free agents Victor Martinez and Joaquin Benoit earlier this offseason, and the Tigers have also re-signed Ordonez and infielders Brandon Inge and Jhonny Peralta from the team's 2010 roster.

Finally we can put a good hitting team together because last year we struggled. With Miggy and Mags and Victor Martinez, we may have something. Go Tigers
