After a three game sweep of the Atlanta Braves over the weekend, the Detroit Tigers kept up their winning ways by defeating the visiting Minnesota Twins for their fourth win in a row, 4-3 at Comerica Park Monday night. Max Scherzer had a shaky start giving up a home run to Josh Willingham in the first inning, and surrendering three runs into the fourth. Scherzer settled down, as he proceeded to strike out ten batters through 7 1/3 innings of work for his third win of the season. Detroit scored on a solo homer from Andy Dirks in the third, and a three-run shot from Prince Fielder in the sixth inning to go up 4-3. That is all that the Tigers would need as the bullpen held on with Joaquin Benoit recording his second save of the season, giving the Tigers the win. Detroit hopes to keep their winning streak alive when they send their ace Justin Vertlander (2-2, 1.95 ) to the mound Tuesday night to face Vance Worley (0-3, 6.38) for a 7:08 start.
