Lions kick off preseason with 26-17 win over N.Y. Jets
During first-round pick Ezekiel Ansah's gameplay in the first four series, he returned an interception 14 yards for a touchdown and had two tackles, including one for loss, as the Detroit Lions defeated the New York Jets, 26-17, at Ford Field.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford played two series and completed 3-of-8 passes for 58 yards – all to Calvin Johnson. Backup kicker Havard Rugland, in his first NFL action of any kind, made field goals of 49 and 50 yards, and Matt Willis made a diving 15-yard touchdown catch from QB Shaun Hill late in the 2nd quarter.
This Thursday night, the Lions will travel to Cleveland to face the Browns at 7:30 pm.
