Tigers come up short in pitcher's duel vs. Red Sox, 2-1
Detroit starter Max Scherzer aimed for his 20th win, but instead, he and his Tigers suffered a 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. And with Cleveland defeating Baltimore, 4-3, Detroit's magic number remains at 17 in the AL Central Division.
Jose Iglesias doubled in the Tigers’ only run in the 2nd inning and Brayan Pena was thrown out trying to make it a two-run double. Scherzer will have another chance at #20 this Monday night in Chicago.
The Tigers will wrap up the potential playoff series with Boston this Wednesday night from Fenway Park at 7 pm before making their way towards Kansas City for a weekend series.
