Pirates slip by Cards & L.A. defeats Atlanta to lead NLDS, 2-1
Josh Harrison scored on Pedro Alvarez's tiebreaking single to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals to lead the best-of-five NL Division Series, 2-1. The go-ahead single was the latest big hit by Alvarez. He homered in the first two games against St. Louis and is 4-of-10 with four RBIs in the series. The Pirates could wrap up the NLDS in Game 4 this Monday afternoon at 3 pm in Pittsburgh.
Carl Crawford hit a three-run homerun and Juan Uribe added a two-run shot as the Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Atlanta Braves, 13-6, for a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five NL Division Series. Hanley Ramirez and Yasiel Puig each had three hits and scored three times on a huge night at the plate for the Dodgers, who matched a franchise record for runs in a postseason game. Back when they were in Brooklyn, they beat the New York Yankees, 13-8, in Game 2 of the 1956 World Series. The Dodgers could finish the series off in L.A. this Monday night in Game 4 at 9:30 pm ET.
