#2 Michigan State survived a scare from Columbia winning 62-53

After a grueling game against former number #1 Kentucky the Spartans had to prevent a let down against Columbia, but it was a tough road and they did win 62-53 in the coaches v.s. cancer classic at the Breslin Center.
Adreian Payne scored 26 points and had 11 rebounds, Gary Harris also had 11 and Danzel Valentine had 10 coming off the bench.
The Spartans were down 26-22 at halftime and as much as six midway through the second half but a 11-2 run and steady diet of Payne in the lower post was the difference.
Michigan State plays host to the University of Portland Monday Night at 7 pm in the Breslin Center in Game Two of the Coaches v.s. Cancer Classic
