Spartans defeat Buckeyes, 34-24, to become Big Ten Champs!
The 10th-ranked Michigan State Spartans went into Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts) and earned a hard fought win over the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten championship, 34-24, to become 2013 conference champions. As a result, Ohio State is out of the National Championship picture.
MSU' head coach Mark Dantonio’s biggest win results in the first ever 12-win season in Spartan history. He already had three 11-win seasons in the past four years, which includes a 2010 Big Ten co-championship and two Legends Division titles.
Spartans quarterback & Big Ten MVP Connor Cook finished the night with 304 yards & three touchdowns while running back Jeremy Langford helped MSU on the ground with 128 rushing yards.
With the Big Ten title in hand, Michigan State (12-1) will head to Pasadena, California to face Pac-12 champion Stanford (11-2) on New Year's Day in the 100th Rose Bowl. It’ll be the Spartans’ fifth trip to the bowl game and their first since a 20-17 win over USC in 1988.
