Detroit Lions name Jim Caldwell as new head coach
The Detroit Lions have officially hired Jim Caldwell as their new head coach. Caldwell, who was head coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2009-2011, interviewed with the organization in early January.
Caldwell helped the Colts win Super Bowl XLI by working with Peyton Manning as the team's quarterbacks coach. Once then-head coach Tony Dungy stepped down, Caldwell took over the job and led the Colts to a 14-0 start in 2009.
In 2012, Caldwell signed with the Baltimore Ravens to be their quarterbacks coach. In that year on December 10th, Caldwell took over for Cam Cameron as the Ravens offensive coordinator and helped lead Joe Flacco & company to a 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.
