Right-hander Rick Porcello allowed one run in eight innings as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox, 6-1. Porcello (7-1) established the longest winning streak of his career by winning his sixth straight start.

Miguel Cabrera gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning with perhaps the shortest homerun of his career when he hit a fly ball on an 0-2 pitch just past the foul right-field foul pole, which stands a mere 302 feet from home plate.

Anibal Sanchez will try to get the Tigers the series sweep this Sunday night at 8 pm as he returns from injury against Boston's veteran right-hander Jake Peavy.
