Central takes down Youngstown; Spartans fall to Duke in Indy
At Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana as part of the State Farm Champions Classic, Quinn Cook scored 19 points and Jahil Okafor finished with 17 points & five rebounds to lead the Duke Blue Devils past the Michigan State Spartans, 81-71.
Branden Dawson had 18 points & nine rebounds for the Spartans while Travis Trice contributed with 15 points.
Michigan State will return home to East Lansing this Friday night at 7 pm to host former Horizon League member Loyola.
Meanwhile in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the Central Michigan Chippewas improved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 season after earning a 75-63 win over the Youngstown State Penguins at McGuirk Arena. CMU outrebounded the Penguins, 54-30, thanks in part to John Simons, who pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds while scoring nine points. Central Michigan will be back in action this Friday night at 7 pm against Maine as part of the Central Michigan Tournament.
