Both Titan teams suffer bad day; EMU knocks off Coppin St.

Freshman Darianne Seward led the Titans with 11 points and five rebounds, but Cincinnati took the lead early and never looked back as the Bearcats dismantled Detroit, 70-38, at Fifth Third Arena.

After a few days off for Christmas break, the UDM women will be back on the court next Tuesday (12/30) when they visit Ypsilanti to battle Eastern Michigan at the Convocation Center.  Game time is set for 7 pm.




Arizona State scored 50 points in the 1st half and it was more than enough as the Sun Devils dominated the Detroit Titans, 93-54, at the Wells Fargo Arena.  Detroit finished the game shooting a season low 30% overall and 24% from 3-point range.

Senior guard Brandan Kearney – who played 19 games with Arizona State last season – led Detroit with 15 points while Juwan Howard Jr. added in nine points.  The Titans (6-7) will take the week off for Christmas and return to Calihan Hall next Tuesday (12/30) to host Oral Roberts at 7 pm.




The Eastern Michigan Eagles defeated the Coppin State Eagles, 87-64, to improve to 10-2 on the season. The 10 victories in non-conference play are the most in program history since joining the Mid-American Conference in 1974.

Both Raven Lee and Karrington Ward scored over 20 points for EMU in the contest. It was the second time the duo has accomplished the feat in the same game this season. After a short Christmas break, Eastern Michigan will be back on the court this Sunday afternoon when they host Concordia University at 1 pm.
