EMU destroys Concordia; Sour opening for Big Ten women
Karrington Ward scored 15 points to help the Eastern Michigan Eagles destroy the Concordia Cardinals, 100-42. Jodan Price's 3-pointer with 51 seconds left put EMU into triple digits for the first time in over six years.
Mike Samuels had a career-high 12 points for Eastern Michigan, who improved to 11-2. Ethan Alvano, Mike Talley, and Raven Lee added 10 points apiece as the Eagles made 55% of their field-goals, including 9-of-23 from 3-point range.
After celebrating the new year, Eastern will begin the MAC part of their season next Wednesday (1/7) when they host Ball State in Ypsilanti. Game time is set for 7 pm.
Jessica Green & Crystal Bradford scored 20 points apiece and Kerby Tamm added 13 points as the Central Michigan Chippewas defeated the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 74-69, at McGuirk Arena. The win lifted CMU to 5-5 while Oakland dropped to 6-6.
Central Michigan will wrap up 2014 on New Year's Eve when they host Dayton this Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm. Meanwhile, Oakland will be on the road the day after New Year's when they face Dartmouth this Friday afternoon at 2 pm.
