U-M women top Illini; Oakland beats Vikings; UDM struggles

In women's basketball, freshman Katelynn Flaherty led all scorers with 21 points and seniors Cyesha Goree & Nicole Elmblad both recorded double digits in rebounds as the Michigan Wolverines improved to 10-1 at home with a 70-57 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini at Crisler Center. The Wolverines will remain in Ann Arbor this Thursday night when they host Maryland at 7 pm.




Kahlil Felder scored four of his 16 points in the final 33 seconds to help the Oakland Golden Grizzlies survive against the Cleveland State Vikings, 59-56, even after blowing an 11-point halftime lead. The Grizzlies shot just 40% from the field, but made 21-of-28 free throws. Oakland (9-12, 4-2 HL) will stay in Rochester as they get ready to host Wright State this Wednesday night at 7 pm.




Kendall Griffin scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Wright State Raiders defeated the Detroit Titans, 64-53. Anton Wilson led UDM with 15 points, including four 3-pointers of his own. Detroit (10-12, 3-4 HL) will look to bounce back this Thursday night when they host Youngstown State inside Calihan Hall at 7 pm.




Tuesday's 9 pm men's basketball game between the Michigan State Spartans and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights has been postponed, due to blizzard conditions that threaten to dump two feet of snow in Piscataway, New Jersey and the rest of the northeast region. The game has been rescheduled to this Thursday night at 6 pm.
