Red Wings' JLA slump continues as they go down to Dallas, 4-1
With Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen stopping 38 shots, the Red Wings had a rough time against the Stars as they went down, 4-1. Dallas led 3-0 after 2 periods, including a shorthanded goal by Loui Erikkson late in the 1st period. The Stars also forced Detroit to be in the penalty box 11 times throughout the game as opposed to their four.
The Red Wings avoided a shoutout when Tomas Holmstrom scored a powerplay goal late in the 3rd period , before Dallas finished it off with an empty netter. The other highlight for Detroit was a fight that broke out early in the 3rd period between Jonathan Ericsson & Dallas' Steve Ott. This was the result of an incident involving Johan Franzen, Jimmy Howard, and a few Dallas players midway through the 2nd period.
Up next for the Red Wings is a trip to Buffalo this Saturday night before they head towards the Pacific time zone for a west coast trip. The last time Detroit was on the road (which was last weekend) , they went 3-for-3, taking down Tampa Bay, Florida, & Minnesota. Currently, the Wings are comfortably in 1st place in the Central division, but trail Vancouver by 7 points for the top spot in the Western Conference.
