Comeback in 9th inning falls short as Tigers lose to Yankees, 5-2
Nathan Eovaldi (1-0) allowed one run on eight hits and a walk in seven-plus innings to pick up his first win with the New York Yankees in a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers scored a run in the 9th inning when Andrew Miller walked Nick Castellanos and Rajai Davis to force in a run, but Miller struck out Jose Iglesias to pick up his fifth save.
The third game of the four-game series between the Tigers and Yankees at Comerica Park is set for this Wednesday night at 7 pm.
