GAME 6 - Hawks & Warriors advance to conference finals
DeMarre Carroll scored a playoff career-high 25 points, including two layups in the last minute, to help the Atlanta Hawks slip past the Washington Wizards, 94-91, to win their Eastern Conference semifinals in six games.
Washington's Paul Pierce made a 3-pointer as time expired in an attempt to send the game into overtime, but then, referees overruled the shot after confirming that Pierce's fingers were still on the ball when the clock hit zero.
Atlanta will remain home to host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the East Finals, which begins this Wednesday night at 8:30 pm ET.
NBA MVP Stephen Curry scored 32 points, including a 62-footer among his eight 3-pointers, as the Golden State Warriors eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies in their West semifinals in six games, 108-95.
Not only is it their first Western Conference Finals appearance since 1976, but the Warriors also became the first team since 1985 to hit 14 or more three-pointers in three consecutive playoff games.
With home court advantage in their favor, Golden State awaits the Game 7 winner between the L.A. Clippers and the Rockets, which will be decided this Sunday afternoon in Houston.
