The Red Wings' west coast trip is off to a good start as they beat the Los Angeles Kings, 7-4 at the Staples Center. Detroit led the game 7-1 before L.A. managed to sneak in three goals late in the 3rd period. Drew Miller led the Wings with two goals, along with a pair of powerplay goals from Nicklas Lidstrom & Pavel Datsyuk, as well as a shorthanded goal by Darren Helm. Detroit scored three goals each in the 1st & 3rd period.

With the win, the Red Wings (84 pts.) inch closer to the top spot in the Western Conference, which is currently held by Vancouver (87 pts.). Up next for Detroit is a trip to Anaheim this Wednesday at 10 pm ET, followed by a Thursday night meeting with San Jose at the Shark Tank at 10:30 pm ET.
