CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS - 2015 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
Duncan Keith scored in the 2nd period to help the Chicago Blackhawks shutout the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0, in Game 6 to become the 2015 Stanley Cup champions. It's Chicago's third title in the past six seasons.
Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist to help the Blackhawks clinch the Stanley Cup on home ice for the first time since 1938. Goaltender Corey Crawford made had 25 saves in his fifth career playoff shutout.
Keith won the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP after he finished with 21 points while playing more than 715 minutes in a grueling postseason. He is also the second defenseman in history to win the Conn Smythe and score the game-winning goal in a Cup-clinching game. Bobby Orr did it for the Boston Bruins in 1970 and 1972.
Kimmo Timonen, who plans to retire, won his first ever Stanley Cup. The 40-year-old defenseman was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia in February after he missed the start of the season while recovering from blood clots in his leg & lungs.
Chicago became the first team since the Detroit Red Wings won it all in 1997, 1998, and 2002 to win three titles in a six-year span. Next up for the Blackhawks is a parade, a rally, and the 2015 NHL Draft, which will take place next Friday (June 26).
