9th inning rally cut short as Tigers lose to Rangers, 5-3
Yovani Gallardo took a shutout into the 7th inning as the Texas Rangers spoiled Randy Wolf's return to the major leagues with a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Wolf (0-1), who just turned 39, allowed three earned runs and nine hits in seven innings. Miguel Cabrera had two hits for Detroit, thus raising his average to .365.
The Tigers will wrap up this long 4-game weekend series at Comerica Park against Texas this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
