Losing streak comes to an end as Tigers hold on to beat KC, 6-5
Justin Verlander pitched in his fifth consecutive quality start and Ian Kinsler homered & drove in three runs as the Detroit Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak after defeating the Kansas City Royals, 6-5.
Verlander (3-6) limited the Royals to seven hits and four runs - two of which were unearned - over 6 & 2/3 innings. His ERA has improved to 0.76 in his past five starts.
Though playoff chances are very slim, the Tigers will look to keep the momentum going this Wednesday night at 8 pm against the Royals in Kansas City.
