MSU go 2-0; U-M, East, & Central get 1st win; WMU pounded
Quarterback Connor Cook threw for two touchdowns as the Michigan State Spartans (2-0) held on with one final defensive stand to defeat the Oregon Ducks in a classic battle, 31-28.
Jim Harbaugh won his first game in his home debut as Michigan's head coach thanks in large part to De'Veon Smith's 126 yards rushing & three touchdowns that helped the Michigan Wolverines (1-1) to a 35-7 victory over the Oregon State Beavers.
Brogan Roback passed for 330 yards & three touchdowns and Shaq Vann rushed for 129 yards & two touchdowns as the Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-1) rolled to a 48-29 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys for their first non-conference road win in 27 years!
Cooper Rush threw for 328 yards & three touchdowns and John Bonamego got his first win as Central Michigan’s head coach as the Chippewas (1-1) defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 31-10, before 21,092 fans at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mt. Pleasant.
Matt Breida rushed for four touchdowns and Antonio Glover intercepted three passes to lead the Georgia Southern Eagles to a dominating 43-17 win over the Western Michigan Broncos (0-2). WMU's quarterback Zach Terrell went 24-of-36 for 227 yards, two touchdowns, & three interceptions while the Broncos only had 25 yards rushing.
