Hosmer's sac fly helps Royals get past Mets in 14 innings, 5-4
Saved by Alex Gordon's game-tying homerun in the 9th inning, the Kansas City Royals won in the 14th inning when Eric Hosmer's sacrifice fly scored Alcides Escobar for a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets in Game 1 of the 2015 World Series.
The game tied for the longest Series game in history (5 hours & 9 minutes). In the 1st inning, Escobar hit a rare inside-the-park homerun on the very first pitch off of Mets starter Matt Harvey. Then later in the 4th inning, a power failure caused the national TV audience and the team's replay rooms to go dark.
After a very long night, Game 2 will take place this Wednesday night in Kansas City at 8 pm when the Royals will send Johnny Cueto to start against New York's Jacob deGrom.
