Richards help Red Wings win rare shootout against Buffalo, 5-4
Brad Richards scored on Detroit's third attempt in a shootout and Buffalo's Jack Eichel missed the net on the ensuing chance as the Red Wings defeated the Sabres, 5-4.
Justin Abdelkader's goal with 6:29 left in regulation tied the game for Detroit at four after they gave up a game-tying score in the 3rd period for the fifth straight game.
Up next for the Red Wings at the Joe Louis Arena is a matchup with the Arizona Coyotes this Thursday night at 7:30 pm.
