State women dominate Ohio State; UDM pounds Youngstown St.
Inspired by the men's performance against the same team earlier in the day, the Michigan State Spartans took control and dominated the Ohio State Buckeyes, 83-63, in the semifinals of the 2016 Big Ten women's tournament.
Aerial Powers led Michigan State with 31 points to tie a school record and Tori Jankoska finished with 23 points.
The #3 Spartans will go up against the Big Ten's top-seed, Maryland, in the championship game this Sunday night at 7 pm.
In a building built on history, the Detroit Titans walked into the Joe Louis Arena and cruised to a 92-79 victory over the Youngstown State Penguins in the first round of the 2016 Horizon League men's tournament.
Senior Carlton Brundidge led the way with a career-high 28 points, followed by Anton Wilson, who became the newest member of the 1,000-point club, with 23 points. Sophomore Jaleel Hogan added 15 points and freshman Josh McFolley finished with 13 points for Detroit. The victory also gave UDM head coach Ray McCallum win #300 in his coaching career in a span of 19 seasons.
Motor City Madness continues as the Titans will now face Wright State in the quarterfinals this Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
