Plagued by penalties, Lions lose home opener to Titans, 16-15
Quarterback Marcus Mariota converted a 4th down with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Andre Johnson with 1:13 leftto give the Tennessee Titans a 16-15 win over the Detroit Lions. The Lions (1-1) had an opportunity to set up a winning field goal in the final minute for a second straight week, but quarterback Matthew Stafford threw an interception to Perrish Cox at midfield with 18 seconds left.
And throughout the game, Detroit was flagged 17 times, matching the most penalties the team has had in a game since at least 1950. Even a key touchdown in the 1st half, which ended up being a field goal later, was called back due to offensive pass interference.
Next Sunday, the Lions begin division play as they travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers at 1 pm.
