Red Wings sign '09 draft pick Nestrasil to entry-level contract
The Detroit Red Wings announced that forward Andrej Nestrasil has been signed to a three-year entry-level contact. As per club policy, no further details regarding this deal will be disclosed.
Selected by Detroit in the third round (75th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Nestrasil competed at both the 2010 and 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships as a member of Team Czech Republic. The 6’3”, 206-lb. winger registered 10 points (2G-8A) in 12 games over the course of the two tournaments.
Nestrasil, 20, finished second on the P.E.I. Rocket (QMJHL) in team scoring last season, recording 70 points (19G-51A) in 58 games played. Prior to joining the Rocket, Nestrasil spent two seasons with the Victoriaville Tigres where he tallied 108 points (38G-70A) in 116 appearances. The Prague-born playmaker was originally acquired by Victoriaville with the eighth overall selection at the 2008 CHL Import Draft after spending several years with HC Slavia Praha’s development program in Central Europe.
