Martinez's grand slam helps Tigers sweep Indians, 8-6
It is no surprise that the Detroit Tigers have the willingness to win at anytime. It showed today in Cleveland, coming back from a 4-2 deficit, beating the Indians, 8-6 after Victory Martinez nailed a grand slam homerun in the 7th inning to give the Tigers the lead.
Justin Verlander pitched six innings, alllowing four runs, all off the bat of Cleveland's 1st baseman Shelly Duncan, who produced two two-run homeruns. Verlander scattered three hits for his 22nd win of the year.
In the 7 inning ,the Tigers bounced back with the help of the Indians' Shelly Duncan, who earlier attempted a bunt opened the floodgates to a first pitch grand slam of the bat of Victor Martinez for a 7-4 lead.
Jose Valverde saved his 42nd game in the 9th inning, along with Detroit having won sixteen of their last twenty games since August 19th.
