Indiana & Phoenix advance to conference finals
The Indiana Fever won the Eastern Conference semifinal series with a 72-62 win over the New York Liberty. The Fever advanced to host the Atlanta Dream this Thursday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Katie Douglas handled Cappie Pondexter on both ends of the floor. The Fever guard scored 21 points in Game 3, just under her average of 22 points in the series. She also helped hold Pondexter, one of the league's top scorers, to 11 points on 4-for-14 shooting.
Candice Dupree's putback with 1.9 seconds remaining lifted the Phoenix Mercury to a 77-75 victory over the Seattle Storm in Game 3, sending Phoenix to the Western Conference finals. Dupree finished with 20 points, Penny Taylor had 19 points & 17 rebounds and Diana Taurasi also scored 19 to help Phoenix advance to the conference finals for the third straight year, and fourth in the last five. The Mercury will face the winner of Tuesday night's Game 3 between San Antonio and top-seeded Minnesota.
