Jimmy Howard shuts out Canucks as Red Wings prevail, 2-0
Jimmy Howard made 25 saves for his sixth career shutout as the Detroit Red Wings scored twice in the second period to beat the defending Western Conference champion Vancouver Canucks, 2-0. Justin Abdelkader and Valtteri Filppula scored for Detroit in the Red Wings’ second straight shutout.
Cory Schneider stopped 35 shots for Vancouver, who have struggled to a 1-2-1 start since Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals against Boston last season.
