Despite UIC's late surge, Titans survive at Calihan, 70-66
Behind a season-high 26 points from sophomore point guard Ray McCallum, the Detroit Titans defeated the UIC Flames, 70-66 at Calihan Hall. The win put the Titans above the .500 mark and gave them their fifth win in their last six contests.
Detroit (12-11, 6-5 HL) finished the first half on a 35-15 run to take a 15-point lead into the break. The lead was as many as 17 until a feisty UIC (6-15, 2-9) squad trimmed the deficit to just three in the final minutes, but Detroit hung on for the win.
UDM exacted a bit of revenge after a loss at the UIC Pavilion back on December 29th. Since that defeat, Detroit has ripped-off six wins in eight tries and has resurrected a conference mark that started at 1-4
McCallum led all scorers with his sixth 20-point effort of the season. He added six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block, going 9-of-11 from the floor. Eli Holman added 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench for Detroit.
